Carbide and Stellite® Tipping.
The application of tips to saw blades increases the length of time that a saw
stays sharp because of the tips resistance to abrasion. It allows for more
accurate and smoother cuts. Tipped saw blades usually experience longer
service life, due to the longer run times between sharpenings and also because
the tips are replaced when they become too small from successive sharpenings.
Tipped saws also run with thinner kerf, which is a key cost saver in the
manufacturing of lumber, by the reduction of lost fiber. The higher
initial costs of a tipped saw blade are offset by thinner kerf (less wasted
fiber), smoother more accurate cuts (allows tighter size tolerances), longer run
times and longer blade life (reduced overall blade and maintenance costs).
